Our guide/ driver will pick you up from your Hotel at 8:30 am in Kigali and your day starts with a visit to the genocide memorial site. Afterward, depart for a 2-hour drive to Musanze, the second largest town in Rwanda, with its stunning backdrop of five volcanic mountains – The Virungas. On reaching Musanze, you will visit the Twin Lakes of Burera and Ruhondo. These Magnificent twin lakes of Bulera and Ruhondo and its Swamp Rugezi are excellent photogenic, serene, and scenic places for Bird watching activity. Moreover, Rugezi swamp is one of the most seven important birding areas IBAs) in Rwanda. In the evening, you will visit the Iby’lwacu cultural village to experience the culture of the Rwanda people.

After breakfast, report to the park headquarters for your first experience of endangered species in the Volcanoes National Park. The golden monkey trek is normally an easy trek that takes 1-2 hours. Later, head to the Red Rocks Intercultural Exchange Center and join the local brew makers to understand the chemistry of the process of brewing a local beer from bananas. If you find the activity interesting enough, you can join the women in squeezing the juice out of the bananas and drink a glass of juice (optional). Understand how long juice takes to turn into alcohol after adding in sorghum flour. Enjoy a big glass of our local brew if you feel like it! Among other activities they also do basket weaving in this local community, an activity which supports local families financially. Later drive to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, you will transfer from Volcanoes National Park to Akagera National Park through Kigali. On arrival at the park, we shall proceed to our accommodation. We order lunch and later take a boat trip on Lake Ihema to watch Hippos and crocodiles in the water or by the shores.

Enjoy early morning breakfast and start your game drives in an open-roofed vehicle. A full day game drive here offers you an opportunity to spot a variety of game including elephants, buffalos, hippos, lions, Masai giraffe, gazelles, impala, baboons, oribi, Butchel’s zebra, topi, bush baby, leopard, and bushbuck, etc. Proceed for an evening game drive after lunch. Return to your lodge for dinner.

Have breakfast and then enjoy a morning game drive. We shall return to Kigali and you will check in at the lodge or be dropped at the airport for your departure.
